Holding formal disciplinary meetings are a difficult process. This course aims to provide delegates the skills to complete the process. Getting it wrong can have serious consequences for individuals and companies; this course aims to highlight potential pitfalls including litigation in the courts and tribunal system.

The course covers the following subjects:

  • Your responsibilities and authority in line with company policy and employment law
  • Order of the proceedings
  • Documentation
  • The steps needed to effectively and fairly conduct the hearing and reducing potential litigation.
  • Highlight the responsibilities of those involved
  • How to interpret the evidence provided
  • ACAS code of practice and the possible consequences of not following the process
  • Modified process and when to use it
  • Ensure that any action, including dismissal for misconduct, is fair
  • The relevance of witnesses and expert help
  • Can statements be anonymous or redacted?
  • Statutory right to be accompanied

Who is the course aimed at? 

Managers and supervisor who have authority to deal with formal disciplinary process.


How is it delivered?  

The course is interactive and delivered using practical individual and group exercises and case study analysis.

Delegates are encouraged to discuss their own experiences.
